Anyone operating a motorized vessel on the lake should be aware of the rules.

No water skiing should take place before 10:00 A.M. Illinois law prohibits water skiing after sundown. For the most part sundown is around 8:30pm. For exact time, go to Sunrise Sunset Calendar
To register and title your boat, go to the Dept. of Natural Resources
Boating Safety starts with You...
Within 100 feet of another boat or shoreline, travel at a slow/no wake speed.
No one under 10 years of age may operate a motorboat.
Persons at least 12 years of age and under 18 years of age, must possess a certificate of boating safety recognized by the state in order to be the sole operator of a vessel.
Any watercraft 16 ft. or more in length (except canoe or kayak) most have at least 1 throwable USCG approved personal floatation device.

NEW WATER SAFETY:
All watercraft that is towing a person, such as a water skier or tuber, must display a bright orange flag measuring not less than 12 inches per side. The flag must be displayed from the time the person to be towed leaves the boat until that person returns to the boat at the conclusion of the activity.
